Pain and Trauma

Trauma can result from experiencing or witnessing something catastrophic, life-threatening, or dangerous such as a motor vehicle accident where there is physical trauma and can result in symptoms leading to Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. 


It can also result from one or continuous non-life threatening events such as being in an unpredictable or manipulative work or home relationship, which causes emotional trauma due to overwhelming stress that the nervous system cannot regulate.

The brain can develop pain from traumas in the distant past, including early childhood events.  These can be expressed as physical symptoms and addictions.

  • brain generated pain: fibromyalgia, migraine, chronic fatigue

​

  • trauma: PTSD, dissociative problems, sleep disorders

​

  • addictions and dependencies:  sugar, caffeine, alcohol, shopping, smoking, hoarding etc 

​
