Some of you will know that I have been working in this area since the 1960's as a teacher, a school principal and later lecturing in Educational Psychology and evaluation.

In the 70's I trained in  Hypnotherapy, before it was "acceptable"  and in acupuncture. I had fun experimenting with speed reading and speed  writing under hypnosis, and learning that putting my hands in freezing cold water while under hypnosis did not hurt. The additional insights from acupuncture training really highlighted the amazing mind-body connection. The body has more information and potential than we realised.

I taught in the Graduate Diploma of Clinical Hypnosis, having allied health professionals, dentists and medical practitioners as students.  This helped increase my understanding of the wider applications for hypnosis.

My first "stop smoking" clients were one-on-one face-to-face clients taking several sessions to quit and many years after leaving Adelaide I was still receiving referrals from satisfied clients.

I designed several pieces of biofeedback
equipment to allow clients to maintain and
enhance relaxation, and self-hypnosis.

In the 80's I moved to the NT and spent years
in Gove working with learning and concerns of
indigenous remote communities,  supporting individuals with disabilities - especially visually impaired and hearing loss students and providing Employee Assistance Services, helping individuals and groups deal with accidents and trauma.

Mid-eighties, back in the "city",  Darwin,  supervising Guidance Officers and providing assessments and reports for students in schools.

Unfortunately, I discovered that despite evidence of their own eyes when children improved in reading rate and accuracy using coloured overlays, it was not acceptable to incorporate this information into official reports. So many children missed out on support.

Early nineties...time to move from inside bureaucracies. Computer advances meant that neurotherapy took off.

I was one of the first in Australia to use Low Energy Neurofeedback Systems, which is  still regarded as revolutionary today. This was transformational as clients made changes without having to do extensive talking about their concerns.

Back to Adelaide in the "noughties" and I am hoping that this unique combination of  knowledge and experience -

  • my background in general and educational psychology, clinical hypnosis, counselling, coaching, using biofeedback, neurotherapy and energy healing, over the years, with thousands of clients

  • teaching in schools, lecturing in universities, working in government and in the private sector, devising and providing training programs

  • being a father and grandfather providing  me with more personal feedback

will be helpful in our work together.
